Aim, curve and movement: the skills that win fights
Advanced Paintballer technique: snap shooting, curving balls with lean, sliding into cover, leading moving targets and using your sidearm.

Once you know the maps, fights are won by mechanics. These are the skills good players practise.
Snap shooting
Keep your crosshair at head height on the edge of the cover you expect someone to appear from. Lean out, shoot, lean back. The less time you spend exposed, the fewer balls can reach you.
Curving shots
Paintballs spin, and your lean sets the spin. Lean right and shoot, and the ball bends right; lean left and it bends left. Finned rounds from the Heron and the Longshot barely curve at all, which is exactly why they are so accurate at range.
Paintballs are slow
A paintball flies at around 50 metres a second and drops on the way. At range, aim a little above and ahead of a running player. Finned rounds are much faster and flatter.
Accuracy
Moving, jumping and sliding all spread your shots. Every shot adds a little bloom, which recovers when you stop firing. Crouching tightens everything. The best shots come from standing still or crouched, aiming down sights.
Sliding
Sprint, then crouch, to slide. A slide is the fastest way into cover and makes you a small, fast target. On ice it carries you much further.
The sidearm swap
When your hopper runs dry in a fight, swap to the Peashooter instead of reloading. It is quicker, and it might just win you the fight.
Barrel tag
Caught at point-blank range? Press V to tag a player with your barrel. In real paintball that is a barrel tag, and it counts here too.
