Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask about Paintballer, the free online paintball game, in one place.

Is Paintballer free?

Yes. The whole game is free to play in your browser: every mode, every map and every marker you unlock by levelling up. Coins you earn by playing buy looks like paint colours, masks and jerseys. Nothing you can buy makes you shoot better.

Do I need to download anything or make an account?

No. Open the page and press PLAY: the game runs in your browser on a computer, a phone or a tablet, and you are in a match in seconds. An account is optional; it keeps your progress safe across devices.

Can I play paintball on my phone?

Yes. Paintballer has touch controls built for phones and tablets: a stick under your left thumb, drag to look with your right, and buttons to aim, jump, slide, lean and reload. You can also add it to your home screen like an app.

How do I play with friends?

Press PLAY WITH FRIENDS on the title screen and send the link. Your friends join your room straight from the link, with no account needed. You can also add friends and queue together as a party.

Can I play alone or offline against bots?

Bots fill any empty seats, so a match always starts at once. In LEARN & TRAIN you can practise alone: drills, aim puzzles and a firing range.

What happens when I get hit?

One hit and you are out, just like real paintball. There is no health bar. In most modes you come back a few seconds later; in Speedball you are out until the next round.

Which game modes are there?

Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Speedball and Scenario, plus limited-time events like Ghostball at Halloween. Every mode has its own page with rules and tips.

Is Paintballer OK for kids?

Paintballer is made for all ages: it is paint, not blood, and players are tagged out, not hurt. Chat is limited to quick lines, names are filtered and there is a guide for parents.

What do I need to run it?

A recent browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. It runs on most laptops, desktops, phones and tablets from the last few years. If a match feels slow, lower the graphics quality in Settings.

Is there a ranked mode?

Yes. Ranked opens at level 5. After five placement matches you get a division from Bronze to Diamond, and the best players reach Pro. There are weekly leagues and a cup every Friday too.

Which languages does it support?

Paintballer is in 55 languages. It picks yours from your browser, and you can change it any time with the globe button on the title screen.

Is it like real paintball?

Very. Balls fly in an arc, slow down and curve with spin; bunkers have real names like snake, dorito and can; and the markers work like real pump, semi-automatic and magazine-fed markers. Players who know real paintball feel at home, and players who don't learn the real thing.

Can I make my own maps?

Yes. With CREATE you describe a map in your own words and the game builds it, or you place everything yourself in the map studio, then play it with friends.
